Bringing Attention to the Book Banning Crisis Happening Across the Country

Show time TBD

With the Banned

Patrick Mclaughlin

Freedom to Read Advocate and First Amendment Scholar. I have a Broadcast Communication Degree from Washington State University and a Masters Degree in Social Work that I obtained in 2013 and 2021, respectively. My education has solidified the importance of free speech and expression and the importance of advocacy. Book bans are nothing new, but the scale and amount of book bans have reached unprecedented heights the last decade. We are fortunate to live in an area with strong library protections, but many places in the country can’t say that. I hope to use this platform to advocate for free speech and the right to read, and bring awareness and education to an issue I value in defending. I love books, I value free speech. I see an attack on books and free speech and want to use this platform to fight for the freedom to read.
