Steena Trecha headed to the annual MS Brewfest fundraiser at Brickhouse Saturday March 31st to talk with folks living with MS and their community. It’s the last Saturday in March and the sound of the crowd from the MS Brewfest fundraiser at the Brickhouse on Main Street in Vancouver can be heard from a block away. Outside the front door two women are there to welcome you behind a belly up table full of empty pint glasses each with two colorful drink tickets. Folks flock by the bushels-full to Mount Hood in the late summer, early fall to visit TheHood River Valley Harvest Festival. this year's eventwill take place October 10-12. I drove out to Hood River last month to get some peaches for canning and for well, eating. Crystal at Kiyokawa Farms shared with me some mind boggling facts about apple varieties, as well as wisdom about which peach varieties work best for canning, grilling and well, eating. It was “Save the Post Office Saturday” this past weekend. Thousands of people across the country gathered to demand that Congress shore up the US Postal Service. According to Move On, the USPS revenue comes entirely from postage and services. Not tax dollars. Revenue is expected to be down by 50% this year, so the agency may well run out of money within the next few months.
