The description of my show “Time Into Space” states this show is about the connection of music and memory. And also about hearing music with which you are not familiar and making new memories.
As the person who presents this show, I find that often I like to use a theme, no matter how esoteric it is to link all of the songs together. Often that theme is something like a collection of cover songs, all instrumentals, or songs that feature a particular instrument.
This week, I would like to focus on a type of vocal style.
“Sprectgesang” is the German word for “Spoken Singing” or “Speech-Song”. A style in which the vocalist recites or speaks the lyrics to a song, rather than sing the lyrics. A style that is akin to “Spoken word” and has a poetic impact on the listener.
