Time Into Space #25 June 11th 2026

Today’s episode is dedicated to the “Trouser Press Record Guide”.

Before the existence of the internet, information about bands and their albums was difficult

To access. If bands were not featured or reviewed in Rolling Stone magazine, or Spin Magazine, it was virtually impossible to find out about them.

But, in 1991 I purchased the 4th edition of the “Trouser Press Record Guide”, with an alphabetical listing of bands, that shows all the records they made up to that point in time, with a description of the band and brief reviews for each record. It was an amazing book, and an endless source for research and knowledge. Now, when I went to record stores, I knew what I was looking for, records missing from my collection. Before a book like this, I would have had no idea how many records were made by the Stooges, as record stores generally only carried one title in stock, if any at all.

Today I would like to play a few bands that I found thumbing through the 759 pages of one of my most favorite books.
