Steena Trecha headed to the annual MS Brewfest fundraiser at Brickhouse Saturday March 31st to talk with folks living with MS and their community.
It’s the last Saturday in March and the sound of the crowd from the MS Brewfest fundraiser at the Brickhouse on Main Street in Vancouver can be heard from a block away. Outside the front door two women are there to welcome you behind a belly up table full of empty pint glasses each with two colorful drink tickets. A single donation of $20 gets you a Team Roadkill Themed pint glass and once inside very generous tastings of beer and cider from about a dozen different local breweries.
Once inside, you’re in a community. There are bands, there is a sign up table to join Team Roadkill as a cyclist to fundraise for the MS Society yourself, and further past the pool tables in the Dublin room I find Ron Hay, Terry Hay’s husband. With a giant smile he pours pints of donated beer, sporting a Team Roadkill shirt complete with their cycling rodent mascot.
Ron pours a taste for Jim Fairchild, a well known community member who’s been producing his own podcast about living with MS – How Ya Really Doin’ – since 2014.
To find out more about Team Roadkill and how to join this fundraiser as a cyclist or to donate to head to bike ms and look up team road kill. You can check out Jim Fairchild’s podcast How ya Really Doin’ on all podcast platforms
