NW Book Talk – Read Northwest – 4-1-2026

Read Northwest: Building Strong
Readers, One Child at a Time

Anna Paul and Brook Trang of Read
Northwest join Northwest Book Talk to share how their Clark County based
nonprofit is transforming early childhood literacy through one-on-one mentoring
and community support. With roots dating back to 2022, Read Northwest has grown
from just two pilot schools to over 25 locations and 300 volunteers, all
focused on helping students in grades one through three build confidence and
reach reading success.

In this conversation, we explore the
powerful impact of early literacy, what a typical reading mentor session looks
like, and how volunteers play a vital role in a child’s development. Anna and
Brook also share a moving real-life story that highlights how consistent
support can completely change a child’s relationship with reading. Beyond the
classroom, we discuss innovative programs like Bites and Books, literacy
partnerships with local organizations, and how Read Northwest is bringing
reading to life through music, hands-on experiences, and family engagement.

Anna and Brook are part of the upcoming
Northwest Book Fair & Media Fest, where community organizations like Read
Northwest connect directly with the public. Their work is a reminder that
literacy is not just an educational goal—it’s a community effort that shapes
the future for everyone.
