Time Into Space #26 June 18th 2026

This afternoon I thought I might take a look back at “Shoegaze” music…a term that originally was meant to negatively describe a number of bands in England in the late 80’s early 90’s, bands that seemingly did not move much on stage, and stared down at the floor or effects pedals during performances…As with most terms coined by critics, it is mean spirited, and by lumping together a number of bands under one banner so to speak, is a bit off the mark. Looking back on that time now, and listening to that music, what I hear is akin to psychedelic music from the late 60’s. It sounds to me that Shoegaze bands were exploring volume, and new guitar sounds for maximum effect on your head, heart & heels.
