In doing research for this story, I heard the same reference over and over: authors, economists and journalists gave the same period of time as to when the destruction of the American working class started.

It was forty years ago, when Ronald Reagan became president and his so called Reagan Revolution began. But Reagan was just the beginning.

Just one example of who’s benefited from the political system of the last forty years is CEO pay. In 1980 the ratio of CEO compensation, compared to the pay of the average worker, was 42 to 1. Today: Corporate CEO’s are paid an average of324timesmorethan the average worker.
